What happened to Dignan?

Dignan was funny, my favorite anti-hero. When Futureman said: "You look like a big banana." I felt bad, I wanted to take his side. You understand why Anthony joins the gang. What happened? In this photograph, from New York magazine, he purses his lips like the guy he was making fun of in Zoolander. It's disappointing, the guy on the right would hang out with Futureman, or blow him.
